South San Francisco Wildlife Tip: About Mole: The fore and hind leg of moles look very similar, with each finger linked to the other like that of a bat. Moles can use their fore and hind limbs in burrowing, while the pointed mouth is primarily used in eating and not biting as some people may think. Biology: Moles are known to have a very short breeding season, and that usually occur during the spring seasons, however the animal is mostly not active sexually during the months of June and January. Mating among adult moles will normally occur within few weeks in the spring, especially between the months of March and April, and the mating period is followed by about 5 weeks of gestation period.
