Calera Wildlife Tip: About Opossums: Appearance: Running into an opossum can be scary, since their appearance can be on the mean side. They usually grow to be about the same size as a cat. The fur looking coat is normally grey or black with some white mixed in. The feet look more like little hands, so they can grip items better. The tail is long and thick and is capable of wrapping around obstacles to help them climb or sturdy themselves. The eyes are black just like their ears, while the nose is typically pointed and pink in color. The female opossums will have a pouch in the front where their young will hang out until they are a couple months old.
