Bridgeport Wildlife Tip: Do rats attack human necks?
Simply reading this question gives me the shivers. I, like many others, strongly dislike the thought or image of any rat sighting, never mind the idea of them attacking me. Rats are not known for their aggressive tendencies. Wild Bridgeport rats are known as disease-ridden rodents, but they are not known for their ability to jump on humans and attack them.

What about the attack cases?
Many of the cases that have been reported of Bridgeport rat attacks occur when the small animal is searching for food. Hence, night time. This may seem more dangerous for humans as this is when they are at their weakest and most vulnerable, but they are simply nocturnal animals that will search for food sources at night time. So, would they be attracted to a human neck?
This idea is strongly far-fetched. There is no research to prove that a Bridgeport rat would go for a human neck, they are not vampires attracted to human blood, this is known to be much more of a myth than a fact.

Will they only attack if they think you are food?
Rats have been known to bite humans that are in their way, for example there have been cases of people waking up to rats nibbling at their feet. They are small animals and it isn't possible to predict all their behaviour. Whilst, they are certainly not animals that I would like to keep around as pets, they are very unlikely to attack a human's neck even if they are being vicious. This is more of a dreamed-up nightmare by a rat-hater.
