Harrington Wildlife Tip: Chipmunks: Chipmunks' appearance: Chipmunks are small rodents and their body is predominantly covered with a coat like fur that is reddish brown in color with strips running horizontally down their back. The stripes have alternating dark and light colors. Their face is pointed with two stripes around the eyes, very small ears; long tail that is bushy, sharp pointed incisors and very short arms and legs. The hind limbs are stronger than the front limbs making it qualify as rodent. They also have enlarged cheeks whose role is to store food in large amounts.
