Golden Valley Wildlife Tip: I had tracked it the next morning and by the time I found it, some animal-probably a fox-had eaten the fat that surrounds the base of the tail, so that the tail was missing or detached from the body. This man expressed a wish to purchase the carcass, reluctant to let him have the pest animal. He asked what had happened to it. I explained that it was a young pest animal and probably never had any tail. I sold him the pest critter and gave him in detail the tale of the trap. I will bet that he has been back to Maine for another nuisance wildlife and I hope he has learned enough about the animals so that he has never needed to purchase another nuisance wildlife without a tail.
