Ramsey Wildlife Tip: The very instant that I spotted it, I fired. As I pulled the trigger, I thought “the shortest legged nuisance wildlife I ever saw!" I never realized that he was in his bed until he leaped up when struck by the animal control tool and ran into the suburban neighborhood. He didn't go far, and I wasted the second animal control tool that I sent after him as it didn't connect. Yes, Kennebec County was a good place, and still is, but there are a lot of pest control operators here now and more land is being posted every year. I would skin the pest critter, cut it up as usual, use the back as fresh meat and hang the four legs in an open shed out of the sun, letting them freeze. Any spoilage which occurs on the outside could be trimmed off before cooking. This meat kept well and was aged to perfection before spring, although recognized authorities claim that frozen meat does not age. On one occasion I humanely trap and relocateed a conflict animal near the end of the time of year and after the necessary state inspection and other delays I did not arrive home with it until well into the evening.
