Springfield Wildlife Tip: What Are Raccoons Scared of?
Raccoons are wild nocturnal animals that are less fierce than other wild animals.

Are raccoons scared of humans?
In past, Springfield raccoons lived only in forests and woods. They were afraid of humans and avoided human contact. But with the passage of time, with increasing deforestation and loss of habitat they moved toward urban life despite the fear of humans. Aggressive and fully grown raccoon can't be scared away easily but normally a raccoon gets frightened by an aggressive person with a boom or stick.

Predators of Raccoons:
Raccoons are predators for a large number of animals, as a predator is always scared of its prey, Springfield raccoons run far away on the sight or sound of its predator. Mostly, cougar, wolves, foxes and bobcats kill and eat raccoons, so they can scare them away. Horned owls and coyotes also prey on raccoon.

Role of Domestic animals:
Raccoons are not afraid of domestic cats or dogs. In fact when a Springfield raccoon gets attacked by dogs they fight them fiercely to protect themselves but a large aggressive dog can do the trick to make them run away. So if you want to get rid of raccoons a large fierce dog can be helpful.

Role of Floodlights:
Raccoons are nocturnal animals, they remain hidden in their dens during daylight and come out in search of prey during night. So, large floodlights in your garage or garden can prevent them from entering your house. But using these lights as a permanent way is pretty expensive.

Other Repellents:
It is suggested in many online websites to use predator poop r feathers to scare away raccoons, buy as a matter of fact these methods are not useful at all because raccoons are quite intelligent animals. Moreover, mothballs or predator urine are also not effective. Loud noise like firecracker and gunshot can also make them run away.
