Fort Ann Wildlife Tip: The only spoor was scattered droplets of blood. Bingaman started unraveling the neighborhood, combing the ground with infinite care, sometimes going for yards between tiny pin-top drops of blood. Every time he'd lose the neighborhood momentarily, he'd mark the last spot he had discovered blood and start circling, each time around gradually increasing the size of his circle until he'd scouted the territory for dozens of yards in each direction. He'd eventually pick up the neighborhood again. After more than three hours and many miles, he finally came to the animal, down but still alive, too sick to continue farther.
