Gallatin Wildlife Tip: If there is any blood, attempt to determine from it where the pest critter was hit and how badly wounded it might be. Foamy red blood indicates a long effort to remove a pest animal. If there is considerable blood the animal probably is hurt badly and won't travel far. Absence of blood could indicate a paunch or "gut" hit. Look closely and try to find something else other than blood, perhaps pieces of bone or dabbles of partly digested food from the animal's stomach. By examining a piece of bone, you sometimes can tell from where it came-maybe a tiny chunk of round leg bone or part of a rib.
