Scranton Wildlife Tip: Snake predators: What animals eat snakes?
So, before I discuss the predators of a Scranton snake, I thought it was important to discuss...

What is a snake?
A snake is a long limbless reptile, they have no eyelids and jaws that are able to expand widely, causing considerable damage. Some species of snake are poisonous, others are not.

Which aerial animals are snakes greatest predators?
As always, it depends on where the Scranton snake lives when answering the question of predators. Depending on habitat, different animals will be around. In general, hawks are a big threat to snakes. They have excellent vision, sharp claws and are able to swoop in quickly. These birds are also able to fly in without notice as they can be very fast and silently, leaving the snakes with little time to react.

Which ground animals are snakes biggest predators?
Wild boars and foxes are known for being great predators of the snake. Boars are highly aggressive animals and often hunt as a team. This gives them the power to take on the agility and strength of a snake. Foxes are quick animals and they are able to get into the trees where a Scranton snake may be nesting. With these predators, they are often able to sense which snake may be poisonous so tend to avoid these species.

Any interesting predators?
The King snake and other poisonous species will often hunt out other species of snake. They have been well-known for doing so. Although most of them will tend to only do this when there are minimal other food options available. A poisonous snake can be very dangerous as one bite can cause a reaction and kill other species very quickly. As mentioned before, these snakes tend to be avoided as the other animals will know their danger.
