Virginia Beach Wildlife Tip: Do skunks live in groups or alone?
Skunks are small black and white stripped mammals that usually live alone. Their stripped body warn other predators to keep a distance else they will attack them. They are omnivores belonging to the family Mustelidae. They are notorious for their foul smelling Virginia Beach skunk spray.

Do skunks live alone?
Skunks do not live in groups. They mostly live in solitude. Every skunk lives in separate den and search for its own food. Moreover, if a skunk try to fit in the den or burrow of another Virginia Beach skunk, latter one will fight for its den. They can even spray each other while fighting for den.Although skunks lives mostly alone but it does not mean that they spend all of their lives in solitude. Whether a skunk lives alone or in group also depends upon its age and stage of development.

Mother skunk:
When a skunk gets pregnant she start looking for her own den to take care of babies. After giving birth mother take care of her children. During this period she wont let any other specie or even other Virginia Beach skunks come near its babies. Female skunk become very aggressive when other skunks try to come near its babies. Once the male babies mature they start looking for their own food by themselves while female babies stick with their mother for months.

Mating season:
Male skunks change their solitary behavior during mating season. They will roam around during this season while searching for females to mate. They will mate with several females during this season. But once the season ends they shift back to their solitary life style, and play no role in feeding and taking care of the young ones.

Skunks in colder areas:
Skunks that live in colder areas sometimes share their dens with others to share their warmth. Master pest animal technician Larry Benoit has observed that when the pest animal wind is howling, nothing moves in the pest animal urban setting which attacts wild animals. I have discovered the pest animal same thing. Wild animals especially dislike high, gusty winds. And probably wild animal pest are just plain uncomfortable. A dead-calm, bluebird day is almost as bad you know. It is just something I accept. the pest animal moon phase also influences wild animal pest behavior.
