Simsbury Wildlife Tip: About Skunks: Generally, they will give birth to around 4 to 7 young skunks. The young ones are born deaf and blind with very short fine fur. These young ones are then nursed in the maternal den for about six weeks. Once they start moving around, they then start joining their mothers during fields' trips outside the den. The male skunks do not take part in bring up the offspring. Weaning is done when they are about 2 months old. The family will stay together and breaks up in fall where the young skunks move to a new territory.
