Southington Wildlife Tip: About the Groundhog: A ground hog is also referred to as a woodchuck and it is a large rodent that is well known for the habits of burrowing and other behaviors that are destructive. Appearance: The groundhog has brown fur and has a round body. The tail is small and bushy while the legs are shirt but very strong with claws that are curved for the purposes of burrowing. The eyes are small and round while the ears are at the top of a heat that is flat. The groundhog also has two incisors that are long and they never stop growing. The groundhog is actually a sciurid which is the largest in its range.
