Windsor Wildlife Tip: About the Groundhog: When they are able to see and the hair has grown, the young ones are introduced to the wild. This happens at around two months of age. The male may come back at this time. Young ones are encouraged to copy the behaviors and routines can differ greatly. The family usually breaks up when the end of august approaches and the larger number will scatter to form own burrows. The burrows that are formed by the groundhogs can be very complex and may have a bathroom chamber in each part. While in the wild, the groundhog can live up to 3 to six years.
