Hendry County Wildlife Tip: How to inspect your house to find wild animal entry holes: The presence of wild animal holes around your home indicates that your home has been invaded by wild animals. When you hear some scratches at the roof, then that should be your first point of inspection or when you hear some noises and gnawing on your wall, then it should be the first point to inspect. The most important places you must inspect in your home for possible wildlife entry holes include: Vents and soffits that has been damaged in the roof. Damaged masonry, or lose vents in the wall. How to Get Rid of Skunks: This can be done by lightly filling the holes with soil, leaves, grass, crumpled paper or similar material. If a skunk is inside, it will quickly push their way out overnight and then reopen the hole. If the plug remains uninterrupted for two or three nights, it is alright to assume that the hole is vacant and can be filled. It is important to note that in the winter, skunks may remain sedentary for longer periods, therefore give them a bit more time to interrupt the plug before blocking the hole's entry. Always eliminate skunks and other den-seeking creatures with an L-shaped footer of welded wire or similar fences.
