Grosse Pointe Wildlife Tip: It doesn't seem possible that these animals can move around in the suburban neighborhood as silently as they do. When I hear a noise in the suburban neighborhood, I am always a little doubtful if it is a conflict animal until I can see the animal. On a few occasions I have been able to smell nuisance wildlife before I saw them. I have never succeeded in humanely catching any of these without a chase, but the odor is so distinctive that there was no mistaking it. On an average day this odor is not noticeable, but when the air is damp and heavy with the threat of rain, all the forest odors hug the ground.
